Privacy policy
Pacatus is a browser extension that replaces your new tab page. It has no account, no server of its own, no analytics and no ads. We don't collect, sell or share your data. Almost everything stays in your browser; the few things that leave it are listed below.
What Pacatus stores on your device
These are kept in your browser's extension storage on this device. We never receive them.
- Settings — your name for the greeting, theme, place, search engine, buddy and other preferences.
- Your content — quick links, tasks and reminders, notes, sticky notes, and the focus timer.
- Clipboard history — text you copy or cut on web pages is saved to a short list so you can paste it again later from the buddy's clipboard panel, where you can also delete it.
- Weather location — the city and coordinates you choose.
- Short-video counter — a per-day count of the short videos you watch on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Old days are removed automatically.
- Uploaded wallpaper — an image you choose as your background.
- Now playing — the title and artist of media playing in your tabs, kept only for the current browser session.
Pacatus does not read your browsing history or bookmarks. Your most-visited sites are read only if you choose "Most visited", after the browser asks you for permission.
What is sent to other services
Pacatus talks to these services directly from your browser, only to provide the feature you are using. Like any web request, they also see your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply.

Permissions
- Access to all sites — to show the page buddy and command palette on the pages you visit, offer actions on text you select, count short videos and show what's playing. Page content is read on your device and is never sent anywhere except as described above.
- Tabs — to open the new tab, side panel and palette, and to control media in your tabs.
- Storage, alarms, notifications — to save your data and remind you about tasks.
- Context menus — for the "add a sticky note here" right-click item.
- Top sites (optional) — only for the "Most visited" links.
Use of data
Pacatus's use of information is limited to providing its features. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or transfer it to third parties except as listed above to make a feature work. This complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays until you delete it. You can remove tasks, notes, links and clipboard items inside Pacatus. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored. We have no copy to delete.
Children
Pacatus is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
